The all-new Duet 3 combines Apogee's next-generation technology and features with a stunning ultra-low-profile scratch-resistant glass and aluminium housing.
The first Apogee Duet broke preconceptions of what a home studio interface could be when it was released in 2007. Duet, with its famed Apogee sound quality, sleek design, and seamless ease of use, revolutionised independent recording and liberated musicians, producers, and engineers. The all-new Duet 3 combines Apogee's next-generation technology and features with a stunning ultra-low-profile scratch-resistant glass and aluminium housing.
Duet 3 has on-board hardware DSP that works in conjunction with the Symphony ECS Channel Strip* to provide zero-latency recording with FX. The ECS Channel Strip has presets carefully developed by famed mixer Bob Clearmountain so you can tune in a pro recording sound fast. Duet 3 may be used in your studio or on the move with your Mac or Windows workstation for music creation, voice recording, streaming, and even gaming. With the elegant Duet Dock* accessory, you can take your Duet 3 to the next level for the ideal ergonomic desktop experience. Duet Dock is separately available.
In order to produce outstanding sound quality in a digital audio interface, professional engineers must combine AD/DA converters, digital clocking, analogue circuitry, and power management technology in a harmonious blend of carefully selected components and deliberate design. Duet is the result of decades of research and development, and it provides sound quality that is unrivalled in its class.
Duet is the ideal companion for your home and mobile studio, with legendary Apogee AD/DA conversion on two inputs and four outputs, as well as two world-class preamps. To capture every detail, connect microphones, guitars, keyboards, and line-level devices. Two perfectly balanced, line-level analogue outputs for speakers allow you to monitor and mix with the full depth and character of your sound. For a dedicated headphone mix, use a zero-ohm headphone output to power your headphones.
Your preamp is one of the most important components for high-quality recording, and the preamps in the Apogee Duet are world-class. Even the most demanding microphones can cleanly and precisely capture any audio source with up to 60dB of amplification and 48v phantom power. Even when you crank up the gain, Apogee engineering reduces noise and distortion to a minimum.
You need to swiftly dial in an inspiring sound to capture your most outstanding performance. Unfortunately, when it comes to recording, few things are more bothersome than latency. With the Symphony ECS Channel Strip (available separately), Duet gives you onboard hardware DSP for FX processing to accurately sculpt your tone on input and reproduce beautiful sounding tracks, all while removing the delay that can occur during recording. The famed mixer Bob Clearmountain adjusted the Symphony ECS Channel Strip, which contains EQ, Compression, and Saturation settings for creating the ideal combination of channel FX for tracking voices or acoustic instruments. Select from various handcrafted Clearmountain presets and record with minimal latency thanks to Duet's onboard hardware DSP.
The Apogee Control 2 software program provides you complete control over all Duet functions and features, including the Symphony ECS Channel Strip FX that runs on the Duet's hardware DSP. Apogee Control 2 is compatible with all current and select prior generation Apogee products, allowing Apogee support and engineering to respond swiftly to future macOS and Windows OS upgrades, ensuring Duet 3 compatibility for your workstation.
The main priority is sound quality, but a beautiful design is a close second. After all, you're constantly in charge of the listening level and mic pre gain, so why shouldn't your studio's centrepiece have a high-end look and feel? The Duet multi-function digital controller knob provides a sumptuous feel for tuning in monitor settings and mic pre gain, while also providing purple LED backlighting for the desktop interface style embellishments. The low-profile body is perfectly curved for ergonomic control on your desktop, and the scratch-resistant cover glass adds a modern look and sturdy feel.
With its tiny footprint and flexible breakout wire, Duet established the bar for making music and recording on the road. When working in your studio, however, the all-new Duet Dock* is the finest way to use Duet 3. Duet is docked at the perfect angle for rapid adjustments and visibility of metres and functions. Duet Dock's rear panel connectors make it simple to arrange and connect all your cables to Duet. Please note, Duet Dock is sold separately.
