Engine DJ has released a new version of their operating system, version 3.1. With it, it brings a series of new features along with improvements and fixes, ensuring Engine DJ maintains its strong DJ performance software reputation.
Engine DJ 3.1 New Operating Software Features
The first new feature within the update is Touch FX, where you can use the touchscreen to interact and manage FX in a new way. Touch FX can be used for powerful effect combinations, swipe to create build-up, transitions and drops and latch Touch FX so your attention can be focused elsewhere. The new Touch FX includes the following:

- Filter Dub Echo
- Filter Gate
- Noise Gate

- Filter
Another great addition is Main FX, where there are twenty-six new and updated effects. Main FX provides DJs with simple yet highly effective tools to create drama, build energy, and assist transitions, ensuring their performances are unique. The new Main FX includes the following:
- Echo Out
- Swell Verb
- Hold Echo
- Recycler
- Stutter Out
- Riser
- Pitch Down
- Scale Down
- Reverb
- LFO Verb
- Reverb Drop
- Reverse Reverb
- Reverb Rise
- Flanger (-)

Other New Features
All effects within the 3.1 update feature a Frequency parameter which allows the effect to be applied to a focused frequency range. There is the added ability to read Smartlists (see below) created in the Engine DJ Desktop version.
Finally, some Sampler updates include Sampler audio being routed to any available channel or to the main output, the Sampler pad mode being accessed by pressing the ROLL pad mode button twice and the Sampler volume setting now memorised between power cycles.
Engine DJ OS Fixes and Improvements
Engine DJ operating software fixes include an issue where the Date Added field was incorrectly setting newly added tracks as the previous day, where the internal SATA drive was not showing up as a source following an update and where a track stayed in the Prepare list when loading to the deck in certain intervals.
Improvements include the Track Preview being routed to the headphones directly for instant track previews without having to set the cue source prior, clearer rewording of the Effect parameter reset behaviour setting for further clarity, and all products with peak hold VU meters have improved peak hold behaviour.
Engine DJ 3.1 New Desktop Features and Fixes
Regarding the Desktop, the new Engine DJ version 3.1 update introduces Smartlists. Smartlists automatically organise songs from all connected devices based on your pre-set rules.
There are also a few fixes included within the update, which include a fix for a prevented highlighted track from being updated when bulk editing metadata, fixing an issue where the Date Added field was incorrectly setting newly added tracks as the previous day and fixing a problem where Serato beat grids were not correctly imported.
