The Denon DJ Prime 2 is a 2-deck standalone smart DJ console that is packed full of features. It includes a 7-inch HD touchscreen display with gestures, a built-in 2.5-inch SATA drive bay where you can store your music onboard, in-built Wi-Fi along with wired internet connectivity, great for streaming music, and capacitive-touch jog wheels that feature an HD display in the centre. The DJ console also features Standalone Track Preview, where it can internally analyse music files including an entire rekordbox library directly from the USB (music source), has eight multi-function performance pads, independent FX units, 3-Band EQ, filter, two dedicated XLR (¼-inch combo) mic inputs with EQ/Level and Talkover function, and RCA aux inputs ideal for connecting media players, smartphones and tablets.

The PRIME 2’s 7-inch touchscreen is not only HD but also features a multi-gesture display, so feels just like you are using a smartphone or tablet. The screen can be used for numerous things such as track search through your music library, finger-swipe to load tracks, navigate your entire collection or rearrange your tunes/playlist directly on the screen itself. There is even the option to display your waveform, including flipping it back and forth from vertical to horizontal view. The ‘Track Preview’ feature and ‘needle-drop’ search can also be accessed via the touchscreen. The HD display is great for essential DJ workflow features and accessing options at the touch of a button.

Continuous Music

Digital music can be accessed and played using the three USB inputs and one SD input. If you have a more extensive collection, then consider using the PRIME 2s in-built internal 2.5-inch HDD bay. When it comes to recording your set, connect a media source to record directly on to. Also note that any modification to tracks hot-cues, loops and performance preferences are also saved.

Standalone Music Streaming from Anywhere

Streaming music couldn’t be easier. Use mobile data, Wi-Fi or a wired internet connection to provide instant access to TIDAL where you can stream the music of your choice. It has a catalogue of over 60+ million tracks, and by using the PRIME 2 as a standalone, there is no need for a laptop. Further steaming partners are expected to be added in due course.

The PRIME2 incorporates Denon DJs 24-bit/48kHz unspoilt audio quality. There are also enough connections on the rear of the unit to ensure it covers every venue including a house party, mobile gig, club or even mainstage event. When StagelinQ connection is added to the mix, the PRIME 2 is ready to create accessible and lively lighting and video shows, with SoundSwitch and Resolume control.

Creative Mix

PRIME 2 has all the features you need to suit any style of DJing. The unit includes 2 (100mm) line faders, a contour-controlled crossfader and two 6-inch capacitive touch jog-wheels that feature an HD colour display in the centre. The screens show vital information at a glance such as track, artwork, loop and track status information. Denon has included a dedicated RCA auxiliary audio input so that a media player, smartphone or tablet can be connected and used as a third music source. Finally, with the use of a 3-band EQ, dual-FX modules and Filter control, you can’t go wrong fine-tuning your mix to perfection.

Extend your sounds

The smart DJ console includes eight highly robust and responsive trigger pads (per channel) ideal for loops, hot-cues, beat roll and slicing. There is also a class-leading time-stretch and key shift/sync feature to modify a songs tempo and musical key drastically.

Dual Microphone

The PRIME 2 comes with two independent level-controlled mic input channels, both with XLR ¼-inch combo inputs. Perfect for being a DJ duo, or at a party, and want to use the convenient talk-over feature. The console also comes with a mini and full-sized headphone jack input.

ENGINE OS has the power

Denon DJs PRIME 2 console uses ENGINE OS to foster the speedy operation of the unit. Your music will not be disrupted and will be continuously kept up to date with the latest and forward-thinking features via firmware upgrades. Use the ENGINE PRIME librarian software on your Mac or PC to keep your library up-to-date and set all your preparation tools. This syncs with all music collections including iTunes, rekordbox DJ, Serato DJ and Traktor. Using the PRIME 2 as a standalone, there is the ability to import a full rekordbox collection directly from a media source and have it internally analysed, including playlists, hot cues and loops, without the need for a laptop computer.
