The new SL-1200MK7 from Technics is their most advanced turntable system yet, updated with innovative new technology and designed using years of research to bring you the most developed professional turntable.
The new SL-1200MK7 from Technics is their most advanced turntable system yet, updated with innovative new technology and designed using years of research to bring you the most developed professional turntable.
The classic direct drive system uses a slow-turning motor to directly drive the platter. This method offers high performance, precise rotation accuracy as well as powerful torque from the motor. This system is reliable and requires little to no maintenance such as replacing parts.
A coreless direct drive motor was developed for the SL-1200MK7, which uses a coreless stator to help eliminate the cause of cogging (rotation irregularities). The rotor magnets within the unit have been optimised to improve efficiency and increase torque performance to match that of the SL-1200MK5, this allows the SL-1200MK7 to boast smooth rotation and impressive sound reproduction with incredible clarity.
Torque / Brake Speed Adjustment
The user now has access to the newest digital motor technology; allowing them to adjust the settings of their SL-1200MK7, tweaking the torque and brake speed between four separate settings. Allowing the user to find the perfect balance for their style.
Pitch Control Function
Fine tune the rotation speed of the platter by ±8 % / ±16 % adjustments until you find the ideal setting. The device uses digital control of the motor, using positional detection of the slider along with rotational control of the motor, and eliminates unnecessary DA (Digital to Analogue) conversion. Providing improved tracking performance and accurate pitch adjustment.
Reverse Play Function
Explore the possibilities of this new technology, expanding your creative possibilities for performances. The new reverse play function makes its first appearance within the SL-1200 range. The unit has also been upgraded to support 33-1/3 rpm, 45 rpm, as well as rotation speed of 78 rpm. The Reverse Play Function can be triggered using a switch on the main unit, as well as rotation speed and torque / brake speed.
High Sensitive Tonearm
The tonearm on the SL-1200MK7 inherits the popular and more reliable static-balance, universal S-shape tonearm. Using high-precision bearings allows the tonearm to achieve a higher initial-motion sensitivity than the previous SL-1200MK6. The SL-1200MK7 tonearm displays excellent tracking performance and accuracy, minimising stylus jumping even when scratching.
Packed with a long-life high-intensity LED, the stylus illuminator features a push-type design for intuitive operation and allows it to sit flush with the unit when not in use.
The phono terminals on the rear of the unit have been gold-plated to minimise sound degradation and improve conductivity. As the terminals have been designed to disconnect the cables, maintenace of the cables and terminals is a lot easier.
High-Damping Insulator
Constructed with audio quality in mind, the cabinet of the unit has been designed in a way to enhance the sound quality produce by the unit and works to reduce external vibrations from causing resonance and distortion. The die-cast aluminium chasis has been bonded with ABS mixed fiber glass to achieve a two-layer construction with added support and tensile strength.
This two-layer construction improves the rigidity of the unit and elevates vibration-damping performance. The internal insulator uses a rubber and spring combination to achieve optimal frequency characteristics, assuring sound quality and howling resistance.
