Korg Minilogue XD Polyphonic Analogue Synthesizer

The Korg Minilogue XD is a polyphonic analogue synthesizer that allows the new generations of musicians to dive deep into the world of analogue synthesis. The Minilogue XD comes with several enhanced features when compared to the original Minilogue synthesiser such as digital multi-engine, effects, a powerful sequencer, and micro-tuning functionalities. These powerful performance features let you expand upon your sound design arsenal and gives you a wealth of performance potential.

The Minilogue XD is a four-voice polyphonic analogue synthesiser that comes with a re-developed circuit board alongside a unique voicing structure. This voicing structure consists of two voltage-controlled oscillators with a multi-engine as well as a voltage-controlled filter, two envelope generators, a voltage-controlled amplifier, and a low-frequency oscillator. There is also a range of distinctive circuits which include waveshaping, a sync/ring switch, cross modulation, a two-pole filter, and a drive switch, all of which allow you to build upon your sound. Sounds you can make on this synthesizer range greatly from warm, lush pad sounds to fat, thick basses to crisp lead sounds, every situation is covered.

In addition to the two oscillators there is a multi-engine that acts as a third oscillator and features three types of sound generators including noise, VPM, and a user slot allowing you to take advantage of your sonic character. A 32-bit floating point DSP provides you with a range of high-quality effects. Three effect types can be used simultaneously letting you choose from an array of variations including chorus, ensemble, warm tape delay, and a wealth of reverbs while a user slot allows you to load your own customised effect programs.

A polyphonic step sequencer gives you 16 steps and supports real-time recording as well as the classic step recording. The 16 steps can be used to directly select a step so you can quickly edit and replace the pitch of a particular step or can be used to mute it. An intelligent ‘Motion Sequence’ feature lets you record the movements of up to four knobs so you can add time changing modulations to the sound, not only does this record change in value but also captures the changes at each step. This feature allows you to design sounds at different steps allowing for countless ideas.

An intuitive layout offers a wealth of performance controls and sound design tools so you can easily sculpt your sounds you please. A joystick works to control both pitch bends and modulation depths, and can have most parameters assigned to the up/down axis. Four voice modes were selected for the Minilogue XD and consist of polyphonic for full polyphony, unison for monophonic sounds, chord mode allows up to four voices at once, and arp/latch mode provides you with an arpeggiator that can be used alongside the sequencer. Each of the voice modes come with a depth control allowing you to detune the voices.
