Updated design

The controls on the DDJ-FLX6-GT are set up the same way as on its predecessor, which is a club-standard CDJ + DJM setup. This makes it easy to perform. But the new matte grey body and graphite jog wheels give it a more elegant look.

Virtual DJ Support

VirtualDJ works with the updated unit (licences are sold separately), which also lets you use Serato DJ Pro and rekordbox Core for free. The Serato FX Pack and Pitch 'n Time DJ Expansion Pack licence keys are also included with the DJ controller. And by getting the TSI file, you can use the DDJ-FLX6-GT with TRAKTOR PRO 3.

Since the DDJ-FLX6-GT has a built-in sound card, you can start DJing as soon as you connect it to a laptop running compatible software and a USB cable.

Jog-wheels and Intuitive Performing

The big jog wheels on the DDJ-FLX6-GT, are the same size as those on the top-of-the-line CDJ-3000, which make pitch bending and scratching feel natural. Each one also has an "On Jog Display" so you can see where the playhead is, and the new rubberised finish on the outer ring provides a much better feel, especially when pitch bending.

Merge FX Feature

The new Merge FX feature makes it easy to add flair to sets and mix between genres, regardless of the BMP or Key of the next track. With just one knob, you can make a big difference. First, turn the knob to change the speed and add tension to the music. Then, press the knob again to turn off the effect. A Sample can be fired when the record button is pressed to end the track. Then, to move on to the next track, all you need to do is select play on the other deck.

If rekordbox is used to manage the music software, there are eight Merge FX pattern presets. If Serato DJ Pro is used, there are only four, and everything can be changed. One Merge FX comprises of four groups: Build FX, Release FX, Build Sample, and Drop Sample. Each of these groups has 41 different effects that can be combined to make more than 9,000 different patterns. Also, the user can save up to eight of their own patterns, which they can access with the FX Select button when needed.

New Jog Cutter Feature

By moving the jog wheel, you can use Jog Cutter to add a scratch effect that sounds professional to the last Hot Cue or playback position. The feature is easy to use and works well. You can choose from ten different scratch patterns by moving the play head position shown on the on-jog display. Then, when you take your hand off the Hot Cue position, the track will keep playing from where it was before.

Sample Scratch

Sample Scratch is a new pad mode found within rekordbox that allows you to select sounds assigned to the sampler and then load them onto the decks, allowing you to scratch with your favourite sounds. If you're using Serato DJ Pro instead of rekordbox, you can use Scratch Bank to trigger samples via the performance pads.
