The Adam Audio S3V is a three-way studio monitor geared for vertical use. It is primarily intended for midfield applications, but it can also be used in smaller listening spaces.
ADAM Audio's entirely new 9-inch Extended Linear Excursion (ELE) LF driver, which incorporates the company's equally groundbreaking Symmetrical Magnet Assembly (SMA) and delivers a powerful, extremely accurate low end extending right down into the sub-bass region, handles bass frequencies ranging from 32 Hz to 250 Hz. The combination of ADAM Audio's newly created 4-inch DCH mid-range driver and the highly refined S-ART folded-ribbon HF driver reproduces mid-range and HF information with equal analytical precision. The latter, when combined with the brand-new HPS waveguide, provides high-frequency reproduction with an extraordinarily large sweet spot, crisp, highly detailed imaging, and a natural-sounding sense of depth.
The custom-designed DSP in the S Series optimises the loudspeaker crossovers to produce linear responses across the whole frequency range, as well as allowing user equalisation and in-room tuning/voicing functions. The DSP also manages limiter-based high-frequency driver protection, processes signals from the AES3 digital inputs, and will eventually enable different extension possibilities. Software updates are simple to perform using the USB connector, which also allows users to connect PCs and manage the speakers' DSP features through a software front-end.
The S3V's built-in amplification is well-specified, with Class D units for the bass and mid-range drivers (500 W and 300 W RMS, respectively) and a Class A/B amplifier for the S-ART tweeter (50 W).
The S3V is an outstanding solution for anyone who requires very accurate image and localisation from their reference monitors, with perfect reproduction of audio frequencies ranging from 32 Hz to 50 kHz.
